Louisiana Public Records

The Louisiana Public Records Law, found in Title 44 of the state code, states that every citizen has the right to examine and/or copy a public record of any public body. Public records are considered all books, letters, records, writings, photographs, maps, accounts, memoranda, recordings, and reproductions, used in the course of business under the authority of the state.

Exemptions include: investigation records; records identifying confidential sources; certain records pertaining to terrorist activity; proprietary and trade secret information; tax return information; insurance company reports; internal medical licensing information; records revealing the location of wells; and records whose disclosure would create an invasion of personal privacy.

You can use this page as your main resource for finding statewide LA databases.  Scroll to the listings below.  City and Parish records are within easy reach as well – just click on the menu options on the left.  Same for license searches and records by Category.
