- Court System - The Wyoming court system has four levels. At the first level are the Municipal Courts, which are responsible for traffic and city ordinance violations. At the second level are the Circuit Courts, which handle misdemeanors, civil cases up to $7,000, family violence cases, felony preliminary hearings, and ordinance violations at the request of a municipality. Third are the District Courts, which the trial courts of general jurisdiction. District Courts handle felony cases, civil cases over $7,000, juvenile cases, and probate matters. At the fourth level is the Supreme Court of Wyoming, which hears appeals from the District Courts and lower courts. Wyoming Court Records
- Criminal Records - Infractions and violations are handled by Municipal Courts, while misdemeanors are handled by Circuit Courts. Felony cases are heard in the District Courts. Wyoming does not currently make Municipal, Circuit, or District Court criminal records available online. Contact the Clerk of Court directly for information about record searches. - Vital Records – To obtain certified copies of birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificates, write to Wyoming Vital Records Services, Hathaway Building, Cheyenne, WY 82002, (307) 777-7591, Fax: (307) 635-4103. Go to our Vital Records page to search the Social Security Death Index for Wyoming, death records, cemetery indexes & obituaries from available cities & counties; historical statewide marriages, historical marriage databases from available counties.
