New Hampshire Public Records

Not every type of public record is available online in every state. Below you will find the more sought-after public record resources at the state level in New Hampshire. For additional records, look at the county and city pages that we have (tip – use the navigation in the blue box on the left).

  • Court System - The New Hampshire court system has three levels. First is the Circuit Court, established in 2011 to merge the District, Probate & Family Courts into one system. The District Division handles misdemeanors, violations, small claims, and civil cases up to $25K. The Probate Division handles trusts, wills, estates, adoptions, guardianship matters, & involuntary admissions. The Family Division handles divorces, domestic violence petitions, parental rights, child support, & juvenile delinquency matters. At the second level is the Superior Court, which hears jury trials for civil cases of all amounts, felonies, & misdemeanor appeals from the Circuit Court. At the third and highest level is the New Hampshire Supreme Court, which hears appeals from the lower courts and administrative agencies. Go here to view our NH Court Records page.
  • Criminal Records - New Hampshire does not provide criminal court records online and there is no central criminal record database available to the public. The New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of State Police will perform an official criminal background check for a fee. Violations and misdemeanors are handled by the District Division of the Circuit Court. Felonies are handled by the Superior Court. Click here for more information about NH criminal records.
  • Vital Records - Birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates are provided by: Bureau of Vital Records, 71 South Fruit St, Concord, NH 03301, (800) 852-3345 Ext 4651, or in NH - (603) 271-4650, Fax: (603) 271-3447. Go here to research vital records in NH.
