  • Court System - The Wisconsin court system has four levels. At the first level are Municipal Courts, which handle traffic & ordinance violations, juvenile offenses. At the second are Circuit Courts, which have original jurisdiction in all civil and criminal matters, including misdemeanor, felony, probate, juvenile, traffic, and small claims matters. Third is the Court of Appeals, which reviews decisions by the lower courts. Fourth is the Supreme Court, which has discretion to determine which appeals it will hear. Wisconsin is located in the upper midwest region of the United States. The Capital is Madison and the largest city is Milwaukee.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.wisconsin.gov/.  Wisconsin is the 20th most populous state in the United States.  The 2014 population estimate is 5,757,564 and the 2010 census population was 5,687,289.  The land area is 54,157.80 square miles and there are 105 persons per square mile.

88.1% of the population is White, 6.5% is Black or African American, 6.3% is Hispanic or Latino, 2.5% is Asian, 1.1% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% is Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.7% are two or more races. 90.4% are a high school graduate or higher, and 26.8% have a Bachelor degree or higher.
