Furnas County is located in south-central Nebraska.  The County Seat is Beaver City and the largest city is Cambridge.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.furnascounty.ne.gov/.  The 2014 population estimate is 4,888 and the 2010 census population was 4,959.  The land area is 719.13 square miles and there are 6.9 persons per square mile.

97.7% of the population is White, 0.3% is Black or African American, 3.1% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.2% is Asian, 0.6% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.1% is two or more races.  88.9% have a high school degree or higher, and 16.8% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $56,400, there are 2,215 households, an average of 2.18 persons per household.  The per capita income is $22,068,  the median household income is $39,603, and 16.2% of the persons in Furnas County are considered below poverty level.
