Florida Public Records

At the lower part of this page you will see statewide resources that we have found useful in Florida.  To see resources at other levels, such as county or city governments, use the menus on the left side of your screen.

  • Court System - The Florida court system has four levels. At the first level are the County Courts, which handle misdemeanors, traffic violations, small claims under $5,000, & civil cases under $15,000. At the second are the Circuit Courts, which handle felonies, family law cases, civil cases over $15,000, probate, guardianship, & mental health cases, juvenile cases, and appeals from County Court. At the third are the District Courts of Appeal, which review decisions from lower courts. At the top level is the Supreme Court, which reviews decisions from lower courts, death penalty cases, public utility cases, and constitutional questions.  Florida Court Records
  • Criminal Records - Except for sealed, juvenile, and expunged records, criminal conviction records are available in all Florida counties. Registered offender records are available statewide.  To access these databases, visit our Florida Criminal Records page.
  • Vital Records - Vital Records are available from: Florida Office of Vital Statistics, Department of Health, PO Box 210, 1217 Pearl Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32231, (904) 359-6900 Ext. 1029.  Go to our Vital Records page for limited Florida births from 1880 to 1935; the Social Security Death Index for Florida, the state death record database, probate documents, and various genealogical death record databases; statewide marriage records database, genealogical marriage databases and county marriage databases; and find available county court divorce record databases.

This is the Department of Corrections current and active Supervised Population database. Included are current inmates, offenders on conditional release and pardons, controlled release, probation, community control, provisional release, and registered offenders on probation or under community control.

Missing Persons

Florida Crime Information Center database of missing persons. The information comes from the missing person reports from Florida law enforcement agencies.

Missing Persons & Children | Endangered

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse. Category of persons included here are endangered persons and children, runaways, disabled, disaster victims, and unidentified or unknown persons. Also available are amber alerts, current missing child alerts, unsolved missing alerts, and "silver" alerts for older persons.

Most Wanted | Highway Patrol

This is the Florida Highway Patrol list of vehicle-related most wanted fugitives. The FHP provides a name and photo, and more importantly a brief history of the case and contact information for the investigator.

Florida is located in the Southeast region of the United States. The Capital is Tallahassee and the largest city is Jacksonville.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.myflorida.com/.  Florida is the 3rd most populous state in the United States.  The 2014 population estimate is 19,893,297 and the 2010 census population was 18,804,623.  The land area is 53,624.76 square miles and there are 350.6 persons per square mile.

78.1% of the population is White, 16.7% is Black or African American, 23.6% is Hispanic or Latino, 2.7% is Asian, 0.5% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.9% are two or more races. 86.1% are a high school graduate or higher, and 26.4% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $160,200. There are on average 2.61 persons per household, the per capita income is $26,236, the median household income is $46,956, and 16.3% of the persons in Florida are considered below poverty level.
