There are nine categories of records that are exempted from public access. Among those: Records related to law-enforcement activities; records subject to legal privileges such as the attorney-client and work-product privileges; records required to be withheld by other laws; and records that fall under personal privacy.

The District of Columbia is located in the Northeast Region and is the Capital of the United States. The Official Web Site is located at http://www.dc.gov/. The 2014 population estimate is 658,893 and the 2010 census population was 601,767. The land area is 61.05 square miles and there are 9,856.5 persons per square mile.
43.4% of the population is White, 49.5% is Black or African American, 10.1% is Hispanic or Latino, 3.9% is Asian, 0.6% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 2.6% are two or more races. 88.4% are a high school graduate or higher, and 52.4% have a Bachelor degree or higher.
