Adams County is located in north-central Colorado.  The County Seat is Brighton and the largest city is Thornton.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.co.adams.co.us/.  The 2014 population estimate is 480,718 and the 2010 census population was 441,687.  The land area is 1,167.65 square miles and there are 378.2 persons per square mile.

87.2% of the population is White, 3.5% is Black or African American, 38.6% is Hispanic or Latino, 4% is Asian, 2.2% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.2% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 2.9% is two or more races.  81.4% have a high school degree or higher, and 20.9% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $186,600, there are 152,803 households, an average of 2.93 persons per household.  The per capita income is $24,195,  the median household income is $56,270, and 14.2% of the persons in Adams County are considered below poverty level.
