Titus County

Titus County is located in the East Texas Region of Texas.  The County Seat is Mount Pleasant and the largest city is Mount Pleasant.    The 2014 population estimate is 32,506 and the 2010 census population was 32,334.  The land area is 406.05 square miles and there are 79.6 persons per square mile.

85% of the population is White, 10.3% is Black or African American, 40.9% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.9% is Asian, 2.4% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.2% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.2% is two or more races.  72.1% have a high school degree or higher, and 13.8% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $91,600, there are 10,725 households, an average of 2.98 persons per household.  The per capita income is $19,356,  the median household income is $42,939, and 22% of the persons in Titus County are considered below poverty level.

The total number of firms, at last estimate, was 2,249.  Retail sales (in $1000) were $425,109, and sales per capita were $14,594.
