McLennan County is located in the Central Texas Region of Texas.  The County Seat is Waco and the largest city is Waco.    The 2014 population estimate is 243,441 and the 2010 census population was 234,906.  The land area is 1,037.10 square miles and there are 226.5 persons per square mile.

80.3% of the population is White, 15% is Black or African American, 24.8% is Hispanic or Latino, 1.6% is Asian, 1.1% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.8% is two or more races.  82.3% have a high school degree or higher, and 21.7% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $108,300, there are 84,862 households, an average of 2.69 persons per household.  The per capita income is $21,660,  the median household income is $41,922, and 22% of the persons in McLennan County are considered below poverty level.
