Kaufman County

Kaufman County is located in the North Texas Region of Texas.  The County Seat is Kaufman and the largest city is Terrell.    The 2014 population estimate is 111,236 and the 2010 census population was 103,346.  The land area is 780.70 square miles and there are 132.4 persons per square mile.

85.5% of the population is White, 10.7% is Black or African American, 18.8% is Hispanic or Latino, 1.1% is Asian, 1% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.8% is two or more races.  82.5% have a high school degree or higher, and 17.6% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $129,500, there are 34,922 households, an average of 2.97 persons per household.  The per capita income is $24,954,  the median household income is $61,194, and 13.3% of the persons in Kaufman County are considered below poverty level.

The total number of firms, at last estimate, was 10,231.  Retail sales (in $1000) were $943,809, and sales per capita were $9,770.  The percentage of black-owned firms is 0%, and the percentage of women-owned firms is 27.2%.
