Hill County

Hill County is located in the Lower Gulf Coast Region of Texas.  The County Seat is Hillsboro and the largest city is Hillsboro.    The 2014 population estimate is 34,848 and the 2010 census population was 35,089.  The land area is 958.86 square miles and there are 36.6 persons per square mile.

90.1% of the population is White, 7% is Black or African American, 19.4% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.5% is Asian, 0.8% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.6% is two or more races.  78.7% have a high school degree or higher, and 14.8% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $83,400, there are 13,395 households, an average of 2.54 persons per household.  The per capita income is $21,182,  the median household income is $40,769, and 17% of the persons in Hill County are considered below poverty level.

The total number of firms, at last estimate, was 2,855.  Retail sales (in $1000) were $400,271, and sales per capita were $11,364.  The percentage of black-owned firms is 0%, and the percentage of women-owned firms is 26.3%.
