Erath County is located in the North Texas Region of Texas.  The County Seat is Stephenville and the largest city is Stephenville.    The 2014 population estimate is 40,147 and the 2010 census population was 37,890.  The land area is 1,083.07 square miles and there are 35 persons per square mile.

94.8% of the population is White, 1.6% is Black or African American, 20.2% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.8% is Asian, 1.4% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.4% is two or more races.  82% have a high school degree or higher, and 24.3% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $111,100, there are 14,383 households, an average of 2.57 persons per household.  The per capita income is $21,670,  the median household income is $39,586, and 22.3% of the persons in Erath County are considered below poverty level.
