Ector County

Ector County is located in the West Texas Region of Texas.  The County Seat is Odessa and the largest city is Odessa.    The 2014 population estimate is 153,904 and the 2010 census population was 137,133.  The land area is 897.69 square miles and there are 152.8 persons per square mile.

91.3% of the population is White, 4.8% is Black or African American, 56.4% is Hispanic or Latino, 1% is Asian, 1.4% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.2% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.3% is two or more races.  72.9% have a high school degree or higher, and 13.5% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $91,200, there are 49,962 households, an average of 2.80 persons per household.  The per capita income is $24,247,  the median household income is $51,466, and 15.9% of the persons in Ector County are considered below poverty level.

The total number of firms, at last estimate, was 11,745.  Retail sales (in $1000) were $2,090,614, and sales per capita were $16,222.  The percentage of black-owned firms is 2%, and the percentage of women-owned firms is 26.3%.
