70.4% of the population is White, 22% is Black or African American, 5% is Hispanic or Latino, 4.3% is Asian, 0.3% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 2.9% is two or more races.  89.7% have a high school degree or higher, and 36.4% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $150,800, there are 468,295 households, an average of 2.47 persons per household.  The per capita income is $28,283,  the median household income is $50,877, and 18.1% of the persons in Franklin County are considered below poverty level.

The total number of firms, at last estimate, was 97,456.  Retail sales (in $1000) were $19,403,588, and sales per capita were $17,288.  The percentage of black-owned firms is 11.8%, and the percentage of women-owned firms is 31.9%.
