93.8% of the population is White, 4.6% is Black or African American, 1.7% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.3% is Asian, 0.2% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1% is two or more races.  84.2% have a high school degree or higher, and 13.1% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $82,900, there are 8,124 households, an average of 2.57 persons per household.  The per capita income is $21,523,  the median household income is $44,722, and 17% of the persons in Fayette County are considered below poverty level.
