Edgar County is located in east-central Illinois.  The County Seat is Paris and the largest city is Paris.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.edgarcountyillinois.com/.  The 2014 population estimate is 17,841 and the 2010 census population was 18,576.  The land area is 623.37 square miles and there are 29.8 persons per square mile.

98.2% of the population is White, 0.5% is Black or African American, 1% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.3% is Asian, 0.2% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 0.8% is two or more races.  86% have a high school degree or higher, and 18.2% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $72,900, there are 7,893 households, an average of 2.28 persons per household.  The per capita income is $23,368,  the median household income is $42,133, and 18.4% of the persons in Edgar County are considered below poverty level.
