88.6% of the population is White, 7.5% is Black or African American, 42.9% is Hispanic or Latino, 1.3% is Asian, 1.2% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.4% is two or more races.  64.2% have a high school degree or higher, and 8.8% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $85,800, there are 7,463 households, an average of 3.38 persons per household.  The per capita income is $15,366,  the median household income is $37,125, and 29.6% of the persons in Hardee County are considered below poverty level.
