81.7% of the population is White, 0.9% is Black or African American, 20.8% is Hispanic or Latino, 1.5% is Asian, 12.7% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 3.1% is two or more races.  88.1% have a high school degree or higher, and 21.4% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $236,100, there are 7,873 households, an average of 2.30 persons per household.  The per capita income is $27,441,  the median household income is $44,796, and 12.8% of the persons in Inyo County are considered below poverty level.

The total number of firms, at last estimate, was 1,709.  Retail sales (in $1000) were $241,967, and sales per capita were $13,876.
