The kinds of information that you'll find in U.S. counties varies widely, but if a county does provide public record information online, most often you'll find property records, recorded documents (such as deeds, mortgages, and liens), court records, birth, death, and marriage databases, business licenses, county inmate records, most wanted, voter records, and even restaurant inspections. What you'll find in a county depends on what that county offers online.
You won't find every available database. We've tried to narrow the focus of what we provide to what people find useful. For example, we used to provide access to election results. But we found that people only seem to use those databases for a few days after an election. Since they're used so seldom at other times of the year we decided to discontinue providing those databases on the site.
Click on a state and you'll be taken to a page that lists the counties for that state. Click on any one and you'll see what public record databases we've found for that county.
Want to use a shortcut? Look at the top of the page where it says "Search Free Public Records" and you'll find a search field that says "By County." Start typing a county name and it will finish the name for you and take you to our list of available databases for that county.
