Crawford County

Crawford County is located in southeast Kansas.  The County Seat is Girard and the largest city is Pittsburg.  The Official Web Site is located at http://crawfordcountykansas.org/.  The 2014 population estimate is 39,290 and the 2010 census population was 39,134.  The land area is 589.76 square miles and there are 66.4 persons per square mile.

92.4% of the population is White, 2.2% is Black or African American, 5% is Hispanic or Latino, 1.5% is Asian, 1.1% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.3% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 2.5% is two or more races.  90.2% have a high school degree or higher, and 27.2% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $83,800, there are 15,370 households, an average of 2.42 persons per household.  The per capita income is $20,974,  the median household income is $37,378, and 20.6% of the persons in Crawford County are considered below poverty level.
