Colorado Public Records

  • Court System - There are five levels in the Colorado court system. At the first level are the Municipal Courts that handle violations of city & town ordinances. At the second level are County Courts, responsible for misdemeanors, traffic infractions, felony complaints, protection orders, civil cases under $15,000, and small claims. At the third level are District Courts, responsible for civil cases of any amount, domestic relations, criminal, juvenile, probate, & mental health cases. Next is the Court of Appeals, which reviews decisions from lower courts. At the top is the Supreme Court, which handles appeals from the Court of Appeals and sometimes, lower courts. Colorado also has 7 Water Courts to oversee water rights cases. Denver County has its own Juvenile Court and Probate Court.  Colorado Court Records
  • Criminal Records - Some misdemeanors and infractions are handled at the Municipal Court level. Other misdemeanors, traffic infractions, DWI/DUI cases, felony complaints, and protection orders are handled at the County Court level. Felony, domestic relations, and juvenile cases are handled at the District Court level. Colorado is located in the Southern Rocky Mountains Area of the United States. The Capital is Denver and the largest city is Denver.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.colorado.gov/.  Colorado is the 22nd most populous state in the United States.  The 2014 population estimate is 5,355,866 and the 2010 census population was 5,029,324.  The land area is 103,641.89 square miles and there are 48.5 persons per square mile.

88% of the population is White, 4.4% is Black or African American, 21% is Hispanic or Latino, 3% is Asian, 1.6% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.2% is Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 2.8% are two or more races. 90.2% are a high school graduate or higher, and 37% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $236,200. There are on average 2.53 persons per household, the per capita income is $31,109, the median household income is $58,433, and 13.2% of the persons in Colorado are considered below poverty level.
