North Dakota

In North Dakota, there are limited jurisdiction courts, general jurisdiction trial courts, and appellate courts. The latter consist of the Court of Appeals and the North Dakota Supreme Court.

Limited jurisdiction courts are the Municipal Courts, which handle ordinance violations.

District Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction. They handle civil, felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile cases in the seven districts that divide North Dakota.

Click on the “Court Records” resource below to access the North Dakota State Court service. It allows a search of District Court cases and a limited number of Municipal Courts, but not all districts contribute records. Also below are resources for U.S. District Court federal civil, criminal, and bankruptcy filings in North Dakota; Supreme Court dockets and opinions; and Cass County Probate Records.
