64.9% of the population is White, 11% is Black or African American, 3.6% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.3% is Asian, 16.9% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 6.8% is two or more races.  80.5% have a high school degree or higher, and 14% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $71,600, there are 6,043 households, an average of 2.48 persons per household.  The per capita income is $17,739,  the median household income is $30,201, and 27.1% of the persons in Choctaw County are considered below poverty level.
