96.3% of the population is White, 2.2% is Black or African American, 2.3% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.3% is Asian, 0.2% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1% is two or more races.  80.5% have a high school degree or higher, and 15.2% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $121,400, there are 6,302 households, an average of 2.66 persons per household.  The per capita income is $21,341,  the median household income is $44,652, and 19.1% of the persons in Garrard County are considered below poverty level.
