72.5% of the population is White, 24.8% is Black or African American, 2.8% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.9% is Asian, 0.3% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.4% is two or more races.  84.1% have a high school degree or higher, and 12.4% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $75,500, there are 7,883 households, an average of 2.36 persons per household.  The per capita income is $23,045,  the median household income is $39,633, and 15.8% of the persons in Arkansas County are considered below poverty level.
