Kershaw County is located in north-central South Carolina.  The County Seat is Camden and the largest city is Camden.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.kershaw.sc.gov/.  The 2014 population estimate is 63,161 and the 2010 census population was 61,570.  The land area is 726.56 square miles and there are 84.9 persons per square mile.

72.4% of the population is White, 25.1% is Black or African American, 4.2% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.6% is Asian, 0.4% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.4% is two or more races.  84.9% have a high school degree or higher, and 19.3% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $116,000, there are 24,084 households, an average of 2.55 persons per household.  The per capita income is $22,638,  the median household income is $43,765, and 16.7% of the persons in Kershaw County are considered below poverty level.
