Pike County

Pike County is located in southwestern Mississippi.  The County Seat is Magnolia and the largest city is McComb.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.co.pike.ms.us/.  The 2014 population estimate is 40,058 and the 2010 census population was 40,407.  The land area is 409.02 square miles and there are 98.8 persons per square mile.

45.8% of the population is White, 52.4% is Black or African American, 1.3% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.6% is Asian, 0.3% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 0.8% is two or more races.  78.2% have a high school degree or higher, and 15.8% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $82,200, there are 14,614 households, an average of 2.70 persons per household.  The per capita income is $18,183,  the median household income is $34,841, and 27.5% of the persons in Pike County are considered below poverty level.
