95.6% of the population is White, 1% is Black or African American, 5.4% is Hispanic or Latino, 1.4% is Asian, 0.4% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 1.5% is two or more races.  92.7% have a high school degree or higher, and 32.3% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $138,400, there are 11,824 households, an average of 2.32 persons per household.  The per capita income is $24,291,  the median household income is $43,085, and 16.2% of the persons in Ellis County are considered below poverty level.
