90.7% of the population is White, 0.7% is Black or African American, 2.1% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.4% is Asian, 4.1% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.3% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 3.9% is two or more races.  86.1% have a high school degree or higher, and 14.9% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $71,600, there are 7,936 households, an average of 2.65 persons per household.  The per capita income is $19,580,  the median household income is $39,746, and 18.4% of the persons in Cherokee County are considered below poverty level.
