St. Clair County is located in southwestern Illinois.  The County Seat is Belleville and the largest city is Belleville.  The Official Web Site is located at  The 2014 population estimate is 265,729 and the 2010 census population was 270,063.  The land area is 657.76 square miles and there are 410.6 persons per square mile.

65.7% of the population is White, 30.4% is Black or African American, 3.7% is Hispanic or Latino, 1.4% is Asian, 0.3% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0.1% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 2.2% is two or more races.  89.5% have a high school degree or higher, and 25.3% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $123,700, there are 102,885 households, an average of 2.57 persons per household.  The per capita income is $26,234,  the median household income is $50,578, and 17.6% of the persons in St. Clair County are considered below poverty level.
