Monroe County is located in southwestern Illinois.  The County Seat is Waterloo and the largest city is Waterloo.  The Official Web Site is located at http://www.monroecountyil.org/.  The 2014 population estimate is 33,722 and the 2010 census population was 32,957.  The land area is 385.01 square miles and there are 85.6 persons per square mile.

98.1% of the population is White, 0.3% is Black or African American, 1.6% is Hispanic or Latino, 0.5% is Asian, 0.2% is American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% is Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and 0.8% is two or more races.  92.8% have a high school degree or higher, and 25.9% have a Bachelor degree or higher.

The median home value is $193,900, there are 12,506 households, an average of 2.63 persons per household.  The per capita income is $31,758,  the median household income is $68,482, and 5.4% of the persons in Monroe County are considered below poverty level.
